Pfeil Design is a full service Structural Engineering firm with a special expertise in precast/prestressed concrete design, fabrication and construction.  The company was founded to bring manufacturing, erection, and construction experience back to the consulting engineering sector.  In an increasingly specialized world, design consultants rarely leave the office for the field, and few have any construction experience whatsoever.  At Pfeil Design, we have a balanced combination of consulting firm, precast manufacturing, and general contracting experience.  Holding Professional Engineering, Special Inspector, and General Contractors

licenses, we bring a unique ability to your project with a focus on lean, efficient, cost effective designs and a heavy eye toward constructability.  Located in Tampa, Florida, we provide structural engineering, precast specialty engineering, parking consulting, turnkey parking structure design/build, and parking garage inspection and maintenance services.  At Pfeil Design, it is our mission to provide simple solutions to complex problems.

As Pfeil Design's President and Founder, Chris brings over 18 years of engineering and construction experience to the firm.  Chris has designed, inspected, and built everything from prestressed/post-tensioned concrete structures to steel, masonry, timber, and cast in place concrete.  Holding Professional Engineering, Special Inspector, and Certified General Contractor's licenses, a balanced blend of design and field work has been a part of his career since he was in Engineering School at the University of Florida, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Honors, as well as a Master of Engineering in Structures.  Prior to graduating with his Bachelor's Degree, Chris served as instrument man on Tampa Electric's primary surveying crew, providing layouts for the High Voltage Transmission Line pole setting crews.  During graduate school, Chris worked for Whitehouse Engineers in Tampa serving as Threshold Inspector for the Tampa Mariott Waterside Hotel and Marina.

After completing graduate school Chris began his career in prestressed/precast specialty engineering with LEAP Associates International.  While at LEAP, Chris served as Junior Engineer or Lead Engineer on projects ranging from stadium/arena facilities to parking structures, prisons, warehouses, mixed use, office, hospitality, medical, bridge, and retail.

After several years at LEAP, Chris was hired as Engineering Manager at the Tampa facility of the nation's largest precast producer, Coreslab Structures.  His responsibilities were to lead the Engineering, Drafting, Project Management, and Quality

Control Departments.  For 8 years at Coreslab,  Chris oversaw a staff of up to 25, and precast projects totaling upwards of $60 million per year, several of which garnered PCI, ACI, and IPI design awards.  As the head of Engineering, Chris gained a healthy dose of construction-centric design experience as well as extensive inspection, manufacturing, and construction/erection experience.

Believing that there was a void in the Consulting Engineering field, one that could be serviced by well rounded construction-savvy engineers and designers, Chris left Coreslab to found Pfeil Design.  Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Tampa, FL, Pfeil Design services various consulting sectors with a primary focus on Precast Specialty Engineering, Parking Consulting, Parking Facility Maintenance/Inspection, and Design/Build services for the precast/prestressed industry.
